We’re excited to announce a new long-term strategic partnership today – one that brings the best of two industry leaders together to offer new benefits to our mutual customers. If you haven’t already seen the news, I’m writing about our new strategic partnership with Microsoft where we are bringing the power of DocuSign electronic signatures to the Microsoft Office 365 platform – including Outlook, Word, SharePoint Online, and SharePoint Server 2013.

I’m personally excited as I have a long history with both organizations. I joined Microsoft through its first cloud services acquisition, PlaceWare. I worked on early versions of products that are now part of Office 365 and find it personally gratifying to see two of the best productivity tools come together in the cloud.

I was first exposed to DocuSignin my role as a general manager at Microsoft. As a DocuSign customer and user, I was impressed by the broad impact DocuSign had across our organization as an operational tool. The ease of use, time savings, and compliance benefits alone were enough to deliver immediate ROI.

I traveled extensively in my role with Microsoft to nearly every continent. DocuSign enabled me to sign literally anything from anywhere in the world. Onboard a new employee or contractor? Just DocuSign it! Execute a contract for a global sales and marketing event? Just DocuSign it! I even saw friends outside of work DocuSigning. From parent permission slips for field trips at my son’s school to real estate purchase and sale agreements, DocuSign had achieved a status most marketers only dream of for their products and services; DocuSign was becoming a verb.

So imagine my excitement when I was approached about joining DocuSign as Chief Marketing Officer. While it was difficult to leave the amazing team I had the privilege of working with at Microsoft, the incredible market potential at DocuSign was too big to pass up. Every consumer, every individual professional, every small business and global enterprise, and every business department there in are potential customers. There isn’t a person or organization that can’t benefit from keeping their business 100% digital with DocuSign. And the same is true with Microsoft Office and Office 365. More than 1 billion people around the world use Office, with a quarter of Microsoft business customers already running Office 365. It’s a strategic partnership where 1 + 1 = billions of happy customers.

It is immensely rewarding to be a part of the bringing together of two of the most widely used cloud apps in the world today. Together, Microsoft and DocuSign are revolutionizing business, making life and transacting business easier, faster, more convenient and secure for all. Our announcement today is just the beginning of our strategic partnership. I look forward to seeing our ongoing partnership deliver the latest innovations in cloud technologies for joint customers who will be increasingly more productive – personally and professionally – every day
